30+ years as a graphic designer left me yearning to come out from behind the computer to get my hands dirty. So I opened a small vintage decor business which put me on the move searching for quality treasures of the past, as well as exploring up-cycling and repurposing. The collections of “smalls” I’ve gathered – vintage buttons, antique glass, vintage ceramics and more – is the inspiration for this work.

 

Created through several stages of planning and hand work, my mixed-media mosaics are a welcomed shift away from technology, toward a new appreciation for the imperfect and tactile. These assemblages reside at the intersection of my design thinking and vintage item infatuation, a space where I enjoy exploring color, form and texture, often capturing nostalgic messages and a bit of quirk.
